Where you'll be working
South Eastern Sydney Local Health District is one of the largest local health districts in Sydney, covering a geographical area of 468 square kilometres from Sydney’s central business district to the Royal National Park. We proudly deliver health care to around 930,000 residents across the local government areas of Woollahra, Waverley, Randwick, Bayside, Kogarah, Hurstville and Sutherland Shire. We also provide a key role in helping residents of Lord Howe and Norfolk islands.
The Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Services are a major teaching hospital and tertiary referral centre, providing excellent healthcare to south eastern Sydney and specialist health and medical services to NSW.
We have 450 inpatient beds and almost 3,000 staff. Each year we care for more than 58,000 patients in our Emergency Department and around 50,000 patients are admitted to our Hospital. We also have a busy outpatient service and rural outreach service and provide more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year.
Our hospital is affiliated with various Universities and premier medical teaching facilities which enables our staff to provide excellence in healthcare in conjunction with our commitment to quality clinical teaching and leading medical research.
A new Acute Services Building for Prince of Wales Hospital is being built on the existing Randwick Hospitals' Campus that will include expanded adult emergency department, intensive care unit and psychiatric emergency care centreWhat you'll be doing
This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and others members of the health care team
- Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
- Demonstrated evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education
